Europe waits for the moon's shadow in 2015

The last time a total solar eclipse was visible from Europe was on August 11, 1999. An estimated 350 million people witnessed totality during this momentous event. Since then, European's have had to wait almost 16 years to see the moon's shadow once again. Compared to the 1999 eclipse, this one will be quite different. The vast majority of the totality path will fall across water with only two sets of remote islands on the Northern and Norwegian seas being graced with the moon's shadow.

The first being the Faroe Islands. This area will doubt be the main focus for tourists being the most accessible land mass from mainland Europe.

More maps, times and information on the circumstances of this eclipse can be found on this dedicated website for the event. - http://www.solareclipse2015.org.uk.
